  1. since I was started to study in college, I wish that soon i finish my studies, I hope that could land a job as a call center agent… because it uses a skill in communication, specially your talking to other countries… and call centers is one of the solution to our financial crisis here in philippines, but still sad, because not all filipinos will be accomodated in call centers.

still, it really helps us through the BPO.

    • Hello Jeremy.

Some information to help you by:

      – The call center industry is growing an average of 20% every year – the only industry.
      – The other industry that’s up is local tourism, but that’s only this year.
      – 80% of total call center seats in the Philippines are inbound-oriented: customer service, tech support, etc.
      – 20% are outbound, telemarketing types. However, many in the 20% make more (tons of) money than the 80%.
      – Verbal English language skills is key to getting hired for the 80%: intonation/diction and correct grammar.
      – Selling skills outweigh verbal English skills in the 20%.
      – Best, cheapest way for you to practice verbal English is to read a book aloud everyday – Yep! That’s “everyday.”
      – Learning US geography means only the states and time zones. You don’t need to memorize cities.
      – Night shift takes a toll on everyone biologically. Find ways to sleep properly during day-time.

Good luck on your plans but finish your studies first. That’s an edge you’ll have inside the call center when promotions start coming in.
