Fake Globe Telecom Website

leave a comment »

Fake websites have been around more than fake news. I mean, http://www.pldt.com was once an anti-PLDT website before the birth of Facebook and Twitter. The real PLDT company was eventually able to acquire the dot-com (I wonder how much they bought it) and now routes its http://www.pldt.com.ph to this .com domain.

Today, it’s the fake website – http://www.globetelecom.ph.

A few hours ago, I received a press release from Globe Telecom advising me and the reading public about the fake website. Curious, I surfed around it. A lot of the web page assets were pointing to the real sub-domains of globe.com.ph. I found one web page which belongs to the fake website domain name, where you encode your detailed information about the roll over of unused data, globetelecom.ph/postpaid/rolloverc404.html. AHA!

A quick WhoIs check reveals a German company name with registrant name Frederik Havemann (probably both fake, too), a Hong Kong address, and its servers located in the Russian Federation (bearing the domain suffix .ru).

Anyway, now you know this is a fake Globe website. The real website URL or domain is www.globe.com.ph.

So, spread the word around.

Here is the press release from Globe Telecom:

We wish to inform our valued customers that http://globetelecom.ph/ is NOT an official Globe online property and is NOT connected with the company. Globe Telecom is working with concerned authorities on fraud and trademark infringement to permanently remove this site. We strongly advise our customers against providing any crowdsourcing information on the fraudulent site. We also appeal to our customers to report any similar attempts of fraud. For any information on our products and services, please visit us online at http://globe.com.ph. Customers may also relay any concerns through our customer hotline and through Twitter channels @enjoyGLOBE and @Talk2GLOBE; Facebook page Globe Telecom; or through Enjoy Globe on Viber. – Globe Senior Vice President for Corporate Communications Yoly Crisanto.

Farewell Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach

farewell-miss-universe-2015-pia-wurtzbach-from-the-philippines-binibining-pilipinas-pageant

Actually, I’m going to miss seeing our very own Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach in the official Instagram, Twitter and Facebook pages of Miss Universe. I think she was one of the most down-to-earth, fun-to-be-with type of beauty queen the Miss Universe franchise ever had; or maybe I’m just biased.

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach is obviously of Filipino-German descent who was and still is an actress, TV host and model. She was born in Stuttgart, Germany to a German father and Filipino mother, but grew up in Cagayan de Oro. Since age four, she’s already been in the entertainment industry – acting, singing and dancing – through ABS-CBN Corporation’s talent agency, Star Magic.

The best thing you can know of our Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach is that she joined the Philippine’s version, Binibining Pilipinas Pageant, three consecutive times before winning the Binibining Pilipinas Universe title. The rest is history, especially when Miss Universe 2015 host Steve Harvey misread the results and mistakenly announced the winner as Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez.

And this is probably the best video I’ve seen Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach do so far – quirky, fun, and just being herself.
