Resorts World Manila Concert for Benefit of Yolanda Victims

The Resorts World Newport Performing Arts Theater will be holding a benefit concert for the victims of typhoon Yolanda or Haiyan entitled “Voices for Visayas” on January 15 which will also be shown at the Madison Square Garden in New York during another benefit concert by apl.de.ap of Black Eyed Peas.

The artists to perform at the Resorts World concert include compose Ryan Cayabyab, writer Joey Reyes, Rachelle Gerodias, Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Sharon Cuneta, Kuh Ledesma, Leo Valdez, Audie Gemora, Jed Madela, Bituin Escalante, Pilita Corrales, Robert Seña, Isay Alvarez, Mitch Valdes, Karylle, Erik Santos, Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez, the Philippine Madrigal Singers, Primo, Ballet Philippines, and Bayanihan Philippine National Dance Company.

Proceeds will go to Philippine Disaster Recovery Foundation (PDRF) for the benefit of Gawad Kalinga and Habitat for Humanity.

It has been three days since Haiyan or Yolanda, the most powerful tropical cyclone or typhoon ever recorded, has brought death to thousands of Filipinos in Central Philippines, and millions more have been affected and displaced with destroyed homes. On top of this, chaos has emerged among the populace because of the lack of food, water and basic social services.

Now, the international call for help has loudly been broadcast by several international relief organizations to come to the aid of the predominantly Catholic country in Southeast Asia.

Gawad Kalinga Show at Carnegie Features Stephanie Reese

Stephanie Reese is an enigmatic singer – the power of her voice speaks for her as a great entertainer. A Filipino-American born and raised in Washington, Stephanie’s musical background isn’t just grassroots. She’s performed as Kim in the German production of Miss Saigon, as Esmeralda in the Disney World premier of the Hunchback of Notre Dame and Princess Tuptim in the Palladium Theatre’s production of The King and I in London’s West End.

See Stephanie embark on a solo concert at famed Carnegie Hall in New York on November 7, 2009, at 7:30 PM.  This show is for the benefit of Gawad Kalinga. Tickets range from $75 to $135 and they start going on sale on September 8. Accordingly, the first 100 buyers of the show will get a free autographed poster.

Gawad Kalinga to unveil 2024 vision in USA

Gawad Kalinga (GK) founder Tony Meloto will unveil the GK 2024 vision in Boston, USA on June 12, a 21-year timeline to end the poverty of five million Filipinos and build a First World Philippines. GK’s launching as a global social template of development is consistent with the UN Millennium Development Goals that seek to reduce poverty by half by 2015.
